By Terry Light Expert Click Brush Launch, Event and Photos
You all know I love to attend blogger events and beauty launches because it gives me a chance to meet other bloggers and beauty enthusiasts. I was very delighted to be invited to the By Terry Light Expert Click Brush event yesterday which was held in Space NK Duke of York Square London. Again, I was very pleased it was held in the evening because it meant I could go straight from work. I was so glad that the Tube strike was cancelled because it would have been quite a malarkey to get to Central London without the Tube.
I have not tried many By Terry products except the Cover Expert Foundation which I really like although it is quite expensive as you would find with many By Terry products. I just purchased a backup By Terry Cover Expert Foundation which I featured in my recent beauty haul here. I just had to get a second one because I have grown to love it so much which is super dangerous for my purse. Of course, By Terry foundations have such excellent quality and one would not expect anything less from Terry de Gunzburg (the Founder) who created the YSL Touche Eclat .
P.S. I took a lot of photos because I love taking photos and I am trying to improve my photography skills.I do love taking product photos but I feel my skills are better improved when I take pictures of events and life images. I hope you do enjoy them and you don't find them a little too much....
Brand Overview
The By Terry brand was founded some years ago by Terry De Gunzburg who worked as the International Creative Director at Yves Saint Laurent where she created the cult classic Touche Eclat Pen. I am sure everyone has heard about the Touche Eclat which is also one of the best selling products of all time (I still have not tried it yet, maybe I should soon!!). The development of the Touche Eclat marked a turning point in her career and she subsequently launched her own line of product and they are a proper luxury brand. Many of her products are very popular in the beauty world and amongst bloggers especially her coveted By Terry Eyeshadow Sticks and Baume de Rose (Lip Balm) which look so lovely. They have been on my wish list for so long and I think it is time I took the plunge and picked them up once and for all. I have my eyes on Bronze Moon and Misty Rock which I swatched yesterday and I loved what I saw.
The Launch
By Terry has once again launched a super innovative foundation brush combined with foundation into an amazing product called the By Terry Light Expert Click Brush. It is designed to emulate studio makeup in a single stroke and can be used by everyone regardless of what makeup expertise you have. There are 6 shades in total including Rosy Light (1), Apricot Light (2), Rosy Beige (4), Peach Beige (5), Golden Sand (10) and Amber Brown (11). My heart sank when I saw there were only six shades available but we were told that more shades may be launched in the future. I was sent away with some products including the Light Expert Click Brush which I would be reviewing once I have had a chance to test it out. The By Terry Light Expert Click Brush retails for £48 so it's not an impulse purchase but from what I saw yesterday, it looks well worth it.
Along with the Light Expert Click Brush, some new products were launched in the Teint Expert Collection. These products include the Stencil Foundation Brush, Sponge Foundation Brush and Soft Buffer Foundation Brush. The Cover Expert Foundation has also been re-formulated to include SPF 15 and the packaging looks slightly different. I already have two shades of this foundation already- 12 (Warm Copper) and 13 (Intense Brown) and they work best for different seasons when my complexion slightly changes. I spied a new eyeshadow palette (I think it's called the Designer Eyeshadow Palette) which I believe is among the A/W 15 collection and it does look amazing. I am always partial to jewel tone eyeshadow colours and this one looks simply divine. All these products can be purchased from Space NK when they launch in September which is already around the corner.
The Event
I already mentioned it was held in Space NK in Duke of York Square which is really close to Sloane Square station so it was super easy to find. The event kicked off with some drinks, macaroons and sweet treats. The macaroons tasted so lovely and I may have had a second (and third helping....shhhhhh). We all had a chance to chat, network, take photos and look at the lovely products before the presentation started. The By Terry International Makeup Artist Albane Laloy was available to talk about the new launch particularly the Light-Expert Click Brush. She was also accompanied with her team and some lovely models whom she demonstrated how the Light-Expert Click Brush worked. The Manager for the By Terry Brand Melanie was also at hand to welcome us, introduce the presentation and answer some important questions. The demo was done on three models who represented different ladies including- a sophisticated fun/party girl, a working class lady and a young mother of two kids. Albane and her team showed us the various ways to use the Light Expert Click Brush and how suitable it would be regardless of your lifestyle.
Apparently, it can be used as a foundation, concealer, highlighter and even on top of your foundation at the end of the day if you are keen to retouch your face. I liked that it was an interactive session and bloggers got to ask some interesting question which were honestly answered. Some of the questions asked during the session include:
1.) Can the Light Expert Click Brush be used on top of any foundation for a quick touch up? Answer= Yes it can and it does not necessarily have to be a By Terry Foundation as the Light Expert Click Brush works well on top of all foundations.
2.) Is the By Terry Light Expert Click Brush ikely to cause any breakouts/acne? Answer= No, it does although it is not an oil-free formula. One of the Makeup Artists told us she suffers from hormonal acne and some scarring and she has used the Light Expert Click Brush successfully without any breakouts
3.) Is By Terry planning to release more shades particularly for ladies with darker skin tones? Answer= Yes, there are plans in the works for developing more shades to suit darker skin tones. The founder of brand Terry is an absolute perfectionist and would not ever want to release a product that is not excellent and would rather spend more time researching. However, the darkest shade Amber Brown (11) may be suitable as a highlighter for some darker skin tones
I found that quite reassuring and I really hope to see more darker shades because I have to say By Terry products have very high quality.I do have to say that the darkest shade can work as a highlighter for some darker skin tones and it looked lovely on my skin when I swatched it but I would do a separate review on it at a later date. (maybe a first impression kind of post). It seemed to blend in quite well with my skin but then I think the lighting must have played a part. I always test products out in day light as it provides the true colour of a product on your skin.
Once the presentation ,demo and questions were over, we were invited to get makeovers and a match to the new Light Expert Click Brush. There was also a photo booth with the By Terry backdrop/banner which somehow uploaded the photos automatically to Instagram (and printed it as well)...pretty snazzy, isn't it? I also took some photos of all the lovely products in Space NK which is truly a beauty lover's haven. Seriously, I would have been bankrupt if the store was open for sales as the products seemed even more enticing in the evening lighting in the shop.
I met some lovely bloggers including Jamila from Blush London, Annie from Epiphanniea, Zoe from FaceValueBlog , Mandy from Itsamandything and Julie from Fashbeautyacne. I had met a few of them from previous events but it was so lovely to catch up again especially with the ones I had never met before. I had such an incredible time and such a laugh with Jamila who is so hilarious. Soon, it was time to head home after I took loads of photos of the lovely venue.
I can't wait to try the products I received and of course, I would post a review on how I get on with them here. The Terrybly Mascara promises to grow lashes within two weeks so I am more than delighted to try it. A big thanks to the lovely ladies from Dowal Walker for inviting me for this event. I had an incredible time and met so many lovely people.
* I was invited to this event but I was not obliged to blog about it
