I have a growing collection of MAC Lipsticks but I always find myself reaching for my Nude lippies. I just feel really chilled when I wear them and I know they would go with any eye makeup I have on. One of my friends asked for my recommendations on Nude Lipsticks for darker skinned ladies so I thought I might as well do a little post for her and everyone else. You may have seen my MAC Lipstick collection post on here and my latest MAC Haul where some of these lipsticks have been featured already. I think these Nude Lipsticks would suit anyone, not just people with darker skin, which is why I love them. Of course, they may appear different depending on your complexion but for the most part, they still fall under Nude Lipsticks. I find that for me to pull off any Nude Lipstick I have to always reach for a lip liner which is the same shade as my lips. My favourite lip liner is also from MAC and I have used it for ages- MAC Lip Liner in Cork. It's just perfect for my complexion and I always reach for it. I don't even think I own any other brown lip liner. When I was looking through the pictures below, all the lipsticks (except Twig) appeared to look alike but I promise they look different in person (Blame it on the lighting and camera!!)
MAC Shy Girl//Cremesheen//Link
MAC Shy Girl is a light peachy brown shade which is very easy to wear once you get the hang of it. I remember when I purchased this lipstick from Debenhams; I thought it was way too light for me. It turned out I was not wearing it properly.I eventually understood how to make it work. I start out with MAC Cork Lip Liner to define my lips. Then, I apply MAC Shy Girl all over my lips. It's a cremesheen finish so it applies really well but it is not very pigmented. I actually don't mind because I like the soft look it gives. I finish off with my Maybelline Lip Gloss is Coffee Kiss which is like the icing on the cake and really pulls the look together. Although MAC Shy Girl has a natural lustre to it, I still add the lipgloss to lock everything in and it just makes the lipstick prettier.
MAC Velvet Teddy//Matte//Link
I am sure everyone and their cats own this lipstick or have heard about it or have attempted to buy it. It became increasingly popular after it was rumoured that Kylie Jenner used it for her infamous lips. My friend was kind enough to haunt this down for me from the US and I could not have been more pleased. It's a lovely nude brown lipstick with hints of pink/mauve. It's one shade that's so universal and anyone can get it to work. Again, I always use my lip liner but I feel I can rock it without a lip liner but I don't want to take chances. It has a matte finish so I always leave it as is without any lip gloss. It does not feel dry at all and it applies really well.
MAC Spirit//Satin//Link
This is definitely my least used Nude Lipstick and I am not sure why. It's a really pretty colour and I think it''s actually my perfect nude. There's just something about the way it applies that does not agree completely with me. It has a satin finish but I think it's a hybrid of a matte and satin finish. It feels slightly heavy on my lips (very weird I know) and I guess that's why it's my least used. Other than that, it is such a lovely color and perfect for the '90s look. It's a Rosy brown shade and I think it will be a nude for darker skin ladies and a lovely brown mauve shade for ladies with lighter/paler skin.
MAC Twig//Satin//Link
Now, I had to cheat a little bit with Twig because it is not technically a Nude but it can suffice. You know when you have worn Nude Lips like all week and you want something different but not bright; then Twig is your gal. It's a deep brown shade with a red brick/mauve undertone. It's the lipstick I reach for when I want something nude but with some character. The mauve/red brick undertone gives my whole makeup look some character and snazz. The lasting power is so incredible and the stain it leaves behind is the classic Your Lips But Better (YLBB). I just love it and it's also another shade that I feel anyone can pull off
Overall Thoughts
There you have it!! My favourite MAC Nude Lipsticks which I always reach for during the week. They are all office/work appropriate and they go well with various outfits. They are also perfect for school/uni especially on days when you can't be bothered. That's it folks!! What's your favourite Nude Lipstick?
