Face Masks are important skincare products that I sometimes neglect because I feel lazy. However, I recently incorporated them back into my skincare routine and I hope to be consistent. I usually whip out masks when I am having my Me-Time or when my face is a little worse for wear. I now aim to do a mask at least once a week. The trick with masks is you need to leave them on a for a good while in order to reap their full benefits. This is why I save them for when I have ample time and not when I am in a rush. I don't have a lot of masks but I recently rounded up all the masks I have to share them with you all...
For Blackheads/Spots- Leonie Black Head Removing Peel-Off Mask*//Link
A few years ago, these blackhead clearing masks were the rave and I was glad to get an opportunity to try them. I was kindly sent these by Leonie Skincare and they have been reviewed here if you are after a full review. They are made with activated carbon which is a very good adsorbent for removing impurities such as blackheads. It literally sucks out all the gunk including blackheads on the skin. It looks quite scary to use as it is very black but it smells really amazing. I apply a dollop of this on my face and try to add a good layer (not too thin or too thick). A good guide is applying enough so you can't see your skin peeking through. I leave it on for about 15 minutes and I peel it off (my fav part). It helps clear black heads especially on my nose and it does not leave my skin too dry which is a plus. I don't use this frequently; I think use it about twice a month or so.
Blemish Prone and Combination/Oily Skin- Una Breenan Salicylic Acid Mask//Link
This is my current favourite mask and I use it much more than the others. I feel it is multi functional and you would absolutely enjoy it if you have acne/blemish prone skin. It comes in a lovely tube which makes it easy to dispense the product. The name suggests that it contains Salicylic Acid which is BHA and very effective for clearing blemishes and keeping the skin in good shape. It also contains Kaolin which is also good at drawing at impurities from the skin. If you suffer from active acne or blemishes, this is a really good mask because it is gentle yet very effective. It acts by decongesting pores and drawing up any baddies to the surface. I have never noticed any undue breakouts after using this but if it happens, don't be alarmed as it may just be drawing up all the gunk to the surface. Of course, you should stop use if it persists but I don't think it should cause any breakouts. It has a slight tingling effect which I quite like (it makes me feel like it's working). It also has a slightly strong fragrance which goes away after a while. Once I wash it off, my skin feels quite smooth and soft. I tend to leave it on for at least 15 minutes.
All Skin Types- Aqua Mineral Refining Facial Mud Mask// Link
I think this may be the most expensive mask I have ever bought. I purchased it for £60 and I cannot imagine how I managed to part with such an amount at that time. I guess the sales people may have been very convincing. However, it works really well and I have enjoyed. I would classify this as a luxury and multi tasking mask suitable for all skin types. My friend has dry skin which is quite sensitive and she said she loved using this and she could. It has a mud-like consistency; well it is mud from the dead sea which is known for its medicinal and potent properties. It smells nice but it's not heavily fragranced and it's so easy to apply. While I love luxury packaging like this one, I don't think it is very practical or hygienic. It came with a spatula which I have misplaced now so I use my fingers sometimes (super gross, I know) or a small plastic spoon. Despite all this, it really leaves my skin visibly brighter and much healthier looking. I love to use this when I am in my Gym's Sauna as I feel the heat helps it work better. I love it and I think I may even purchase it when it runs out although I know there are many cheaper alternatives in the market. There is a full review here.
Dehydrated Skin- Lancome Hydra Intense Mask// Link
I have no idea why Lancome skincare products are very underrated on the blogosphere. They were my very first high end skincare products and I love them. I received the Lancome Hydra Intense Mask as part of a very generous gift with purchase a little while ago. It is aimed at replenishing the skin and keeping it hydrated. If you have dry dehydrated skin, you would really enjoy using this. It has a bit of a funny texture. It looks almost like a thick lotion but one with a light texture. I know that does not even make sense but if you touch it, you'd understand. I prefer to use this overnight and actually sleep in it. I know that sounds strange but it's not a wash off mask in fact the instruction is to apply it on the face and then use a tissue to wipe off the excess after about five minutes (It also says don't rinse). When I use this mask, I just cleanse my skin and pop it on and go to bed. I don't use anything else because I just want it to to work to its full potential. My face feel super soft, smooth and plump in the morning and I just complete my morning skincare routine as normal. I don't use this often but I reach for it when I am in the mood to pamper myself or during my Me Time. It's one of my favourite masks as it just makes my skin feel seriously amazing!
That's pretty much the lowdown on all the masks I have in my stash. There is something for everyone regardless of your skin type or problem areas. There are also other amazing masks out there although I have not tried many of them. I hope you have enjoyed this post and if you have any recommendations, please leave them in the comments section below. See you in my next post...xx

Yes to both!! Your skin looks pretty clear from your pictures so you may not need a black head mask...although it's always good to try it!! Boots do something similar (I think) and Biore do something similar as well but the Leonie one is really lovely!!...xx
DeleteThis is such a fab post, I love the fact that you featured masks that are compatible with several different skin types. I have to say that I haven't tried any of these, although I think I might have had a sample of Lancome's Hydra Intense Mask, from what I can remember it was quite lovely, too ;) . (Can I also say how beautiful your photos are? <3)
