Hello My Lovelies,
I sure am glad the week is almost coming to an end but I feel (and know) my weekend is going to be super busy..*le sigh* The weather is a usual topic everyone in London usually moans about and I am no different from all the other Londoners. I don't mind when the weather is cold but i really don't like a freezing and wet weather. Worse than the freezing weather is my skin starts acting up due to the drastic weather change. My lips are one part of my body that usually shows early signs of non-survival of the really freezing weather with its telltale sign of little painful cracks and dryness.
I have a few homemade remedies to combat this, but, sometimes, i like to turn to my trusty old lip savers in forms of lip balms and lip moisturisers because let's face it; you would give me a dodgy stare if you saw me whip out a tub of homemade mixture of sugar, coconut oil and shea butter in public... i know you would and I would if i were you :-). Anyways, I have put together a little mix of my favourite and affordable lip products which never fail me and always save the day. Without much ado, I present to you the The Winter Lip Savers...
Maybelline Baby Lips (Peach Kiss)
It does not really matter what shade you choose as they all do a good job of keeping your lips all soft and plump. I went for the Peach Kiss because i like the packaging( i know, I know...) and i wanted a slight tint of colour. If you want more details and review of this baby, hop on to my recent review on the Maybelline Baby Lips over here. It contains petrolatum (i know this is a no-no for many people) which is kind of behind the softening of the lips because it essentially traps in moisture on the lips leaving it hydrated and soft as a baby's bottom..(or is it baby's lips? i forget now).
Molton Brown Lip Saver
I really like the name of this lip product because it is indeed a lip saver for me. i don't really have many products from Molton Brown but i have received some mini versions of beauty products on British Airways Flights and they have been really wonderful in and out of flights. I believe this was also given to me on one of those flights and i have clung to it for a really long time. It comes in a nice tube and is more or a less a transparent-like gel which applies really smoothly on the lips. The Molton Brown Lip Saver is enriched with Vitamin E, Beeswax and Honey which are all very good emollients and help protect and soften the lips. i really like it because it seems to just sink directly into my lips and gets absorbed really fast. i use this when my lips are really playing dry due to the weather. i find that it also moisturises and helps any tiny cracks heal faster. that's just my perception though!
Nivea Lip Care in Soft Rose
This is another lip balm which comes in a lipstick form and i really like that. It has an ever so slight fragrance which is a bit Rose-y as the name implies. It is also a tinted version but it does not really come up tinted on my lips (hehehehe). i really like Nivea products because they are good quality and very affordable which is what every woman is looking out for (i think or is just me?who knows!). I use this at night before bed because I love to wake up to soft lips. It's not as moisturising as the above brands but I still like it and it has a very sleek packaging.
H&M Vanilla Ginger Lip Balm
This was one random purchase a little while ago in a H&M store and i really regret not buying more because it is such a wonderful product. This has saved my lips a lot of times because it has moisturising and hydrating powers. I have no idea what it contains but i really like it. Coupled with a subtle Vanilla and Ginger fragrance which is not overpowering, i can't really fault this. The only downside is the fact that it comes in a pan/pot which means it could look a little messy with my many finger tip prints in it (all mine though). The packaging is lovely so i just have to love it. I would say this is one of my favourites because it ticks all the boxes for me.
I hope you have enjoyed this post. What are your Winter Lip Care Essentials? share them below so i can check them out and add to this list. Would you like to see a Winter Hand Care essential? let me know in the comment box...see you in my next post..toodles..xx
I love lip balms - pretty much the only thing I carry come winter time! How does the Nivea rosy one compare to the non tinted niveas? I have a non tinted one that I like but someone told me the formula was not as good for tinted ones.
ReplyDeleteKaty xx
Hi Katy, thanks for your question. To be honest, i have not tried the non-tinted Nivea one but i can imagine that the formula may be better as i don't find the Nivea tinted version as moisturising as the others mentioned above...xx
